Lisa Roycroft (DVN) Head Nurse
Lisa has been part of the team since 2018 and is our Head Nurse. She gained her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2013 and is registered with the Allied Veterinary Professional Regulatory Council of New Zealand. Lisa enjoys the variety of surgeries she assists with, particularly tricky fracture repairs, and takes great satisfaction in monitoring patients through challenging anaesthetics. Lisa lives with her Fiancé, Daniel and their rescue ginger cat Lord Solar Goose the Destroyer. She’s a big fan of NZ’s native birds, and you’ll often find her in the garden, happily distracted by visiting tūī and fantails. Melissa Vanderkley (BAppSci and DVN)
Mel joined our team in April 2018 as our Senior Vet Nurse and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Animal Management and Welfare as well as her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing both from Unitec and has been working as a qualified Veterinary Nurse for over 6 years and is registered with the NZ Veterinary Nursing Association. Mel has an interest in complex surgical cases and anaesthetics, loves giving each patient a cuddle and is enjoying learning the dentistry side of things here at MVRC. In her spare time, Mel plays and coaches netball, enjoys walking her dog and catching up with friends and family. She lives with her husband Grant, their two children, Golden Retriever Indy and domestic moggy Ariel. Carmen Charlett-Green (DVN)
Carmen joined our team in August 2023 after moving to Auckland from Wellington. Carmen has a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing after graduating from Vet Nurse Plus in 2019. Carmen has a hand-raised house sparrow named Jack Sparrow - who is wild now but still loves to come and visit! In Carmen's spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and partner, playing hockey and exploring different cities. Amy Keary (DVN)
Amy joined our team in January 2023. She has a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, graduating Vet Nurse Plus in 2019. Amy is a passionate feline foster parent and loves special needs animals, which resulted in her adopting a blind cat named Loki. She has a passion for orthopaedic surgeries and intensive medical nursing. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her fosters and taking Loki on outside adventures. Payal Chandra (DVN)
Payal joined our team in May 2025, having spent seven years living in Dunedin. She worked in general practice for almost three years before deciding to move back home to Auckland to be closer to family — and of course, her two cats, Bartholomew and Batman, came with her! She completed her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Otago Polytechnic in 2023 and has developed an interest in orthopaedic and dental procedures. Payal enjoys both the anaesthetic side of things as well as getting hands-on, assisting David and Craig during procedures. |
